Sundresses For Women

A sundress is a dress that is considered informal, of any shape and lightweight fabric that is intended for the summer time. This dress is typically worn without a top for layering and the design is a mixture between modesty and allowing exposure to the sun.
The fashion of the sundress was first seen in the 1940s and the basic look was of modesty and style. One of the main reasons the sundress was created was to provide women with clothes that were cool, but also modest and fashionable. Most women at this time wore dresses all the time, so they were often looking for a style that kept their femininity but also kept them cool during the hot summer seasons. The main look of the sundress was one of thick straps, almost wide enough to be thought to be short sleeves and the skirt fell just below the knees. The patterns were in bright colors and usually a floral motif.
The sundress was popularized by Lilly Pulitzer in the 1960s. Her dresses were made with bright colors and often whimsical prints that used her name ‘Lilly’ somewhere within the design. They were made from 100% cotton and typically had metal zippers. During the late 1960s, Pulitzer began using a 65%polyester/ 35% cotton blend. In the 1970s, the hemline of sundresses started to fall to ankle length, but soon rose once again to the shorter sundresses.
Today’s sundresses for women provide them with a feminine look that may be more comfortable and lighter than a skirt and blouse or other type of dress. The modern styles show short hemlines and low necklines, but have modest lengths with a large variety of patterns available.
Sundresses for women are always a favorite for most them, and designers would agree that they are a staple in a wardrobe that is cool, attractive and comfortable. They are practical pieces of attire that are fun to wear any time of day.
Sundresses are available today in many prints and styles. Many have color patterns of floral, jungle hues and plaid. The dresses can come with thin straps, wide straps or no strapless (strapless). Sundresses can make any size women feel and look good because they can fit all shapes and sizes with any style or print.
The styles of sundresses for women include empire waists, straight princess cuts and fuller skirts. Most women look for clothes that are flexible and durable and a sundress is an inexpensive option. The price of a sundress can vary in price, you can spend a lot or a little and the average is around $35.
Today, a lot is available when it comes to the style, length and fabric of a sundress. Someone can choose a sundress that is short and shows a little more while someone else may choose an ankle-length sundress to cover up more. The print of a sundress can range from a solid to vibrant colors and florals. The fabric used for women's sundresses can range from soft cotton to a polyester blend.

The Long Halter Dress, Style Elegant, Grace

One dress that constantly wins the hearts of millions of women, the long halter dress. This style remains a large part of fashion for all women because of the way the dresses can conform to any figure. A good example would be a pregnant woman versus an athletic woman.
To better explain, if you are looking at a long halter dress hanging on a rack in a clothing store, you will find that the bodice area is usually tight or conforms around the bust area and then gently falls to the floor. This allows the body to have a little additional freedom. For example, you may find more room around the hips and stomach area, this is great because if you are pregnant, you could wear the dress during your pregnancy as well as during your "normal" times. Not many dresses in fashion can do this. There are some designers who have attempted to change the dress so that it couldn't be as versatile, they have failed because of the way the fabric hangs. All the more luck for women.
Prices for the long halter dress range in price from around $20.00 and up. Just about every fashion company and department store have at least one that is available year round. The versatility of the dress makes this possible. You can dress it up by adding a different style of shoe and a sports jacket to give you a more professional business look or you can dress down simply by wearing a pair of sandals with it. But, with the same dress you also have the opportunity to give it a more elegant look for evening wear. Simply changing the accessories that you wear with the dress can give it a different look from morning to night. Of course, choosing the right fabric and pattern does help to give you the best of all worlds. This is also a great way to take less clothing when you travel. By having a versatile outfit, you can save room in your luggage and not have to worry about what to wear for evenings.
It can be overwhelming to shop for the perfect women's dresses, but, at the same time if you like to shop, you might find it rewarding. The different companies offer huge varieties of the long halter dress, not only will you find the dress in great solid colors, but there are literally thousands of great prints as well. From floral to simple check and more. Of course one pattern may not fit with everyone's personality and style, so once you have seen some you would like to try, it is a good idea to venture to the nearest store and try it on. This will help you to determine if the dress is right for you and your body type. It is always a good idea to shop smart by doing the research before the leg work. By saving yourself the hassle of running all over town, you can use that extra time for the next great outfit you want to find.

Summer women's dresses have such glorious colors I find it impossible not to love them. The 1950s had such great dresses with big twirly skirts and halter necks. Almost makes you want to be Bettie Page.
What is so special about sundresses that make them sexy and fun? Its not just that they show more skin, its more than that. Perhaps its the flirty way they skirt the thigh or leg. My opinion is the sundress is just lightweight, so a woman walks lighter, her skirt sways more, and yes.. the extra skin helps.
So today's sundress article is about how to show off a sundress in style, for any body type.
Big girls, like me, are the easiest to start with. Finding a women's dresses in our size is difficult enough, but couple that with the fact that most designers seem to think size two is the only dress group to wear hot clothes, and its a tough world. However, the trend is changing. The growing population worldwide is a larger figure, and not for the first time in history, as some would have you think. Someone should remind the fat police that Botticelli women's dresses weren't made for a size 2 (of course they didn't wear dresses, but that is besides the point!). So, back on subject, check Lane Bryant's summer dresses and of course Avenue has beautiful clothes in summer styles. If you're fuller on the bottom, you'll want to accent the top part, this means flowing skirt in soft, think fabrics (nothing heavy down around the butt please), and halter tops with bare shoulders.
If you are self conscious about your upper arms, don't be afraid to add a lightweight summer bolero to your sundress. Jackets can spice up any dress. Throw on some bracelets to draw attention away from your upper body. On that note if you have great gams, wear a shorter dress and that'll really throw attention away from your arms!
For us girls not graced with the larger chests and small waists, ruffles add femininity and a little extra oomph. Tight belted waists will pull in your figure. Hot big polka dots or vertical stripes in smaller areas can add the appearance of a larger...bust. (you thought I was gonna say boobs didn't you!?). A small or wide ribbon under the bust area will also give the appearance of extra bosom.

The shorter you are, the shorter your dress should go. Stay with dresses at or above the knee if you're petite. Heeled wedge shoes can be worn with longer dresses.
Longer dresses can hide a few things, like that you haven't shaved your legs. =). Avoid heavy fabrics, stick with lighter gauzy material.
If your figure is fuller all over, prints are the name of the game. Stay far far away from horizontal stripes, but vertical stripes are quite slimming. Heavy dresses add bulk, stay with lighter fabrics. Straight dresses which don't cling, but also doesn't have fuller skirts, can hide figure imperfections. If you choose a tighter belt, you'll want a dress that doesn't gather causing more bulk around the hips.
Larger upper body? Try v-neck dresses and capped sleeves. Rounded necklines can make the upper body rounder, while a v will give length to the chest area. No ruffles, or embroidery on top, but go nuts on the lower half!
Thinner figures should look for ruffles and big prints. Wide belts will widen the waist, but fuller skirts will push the waist in and add width to the hips.
