Purple Bridesmaid Dresses

When shopping for bridesmaids dresses, there are probably a thousand things to think about. In fact, I got so frustrated trying to find a dress that all my bridesmaid could agree on that I just gave the job to them. It makes life a lot easier to just hand the job over to women who already know what looks good on them, and what makes them comfortable. What you don't want is having 6 women standing next to you on your wedding day feeling uncomfortable, ugly and fidgeting.

Bridesmaids dresses have a history of being unflattering, one time use, floofy, poofy, hot messes. The honor of being a bridesmaid has been detracted from by horrible, horrible dresses. Today the world is different and the bridesmaids dresses are genuinely gorgeous.

Choosing a bridesmaid dress without considering the implications of how it fits on each figure, is a bit like playing Russian Roulette with your wedding day pictures. Some girls are heaver on top and if you put them in the wrong dress, well what do you think most people are going to look at in your wedding photos? Other girls are uncomfortable with their arms, put them in a strapless dress with no wrap, and you'll have a halfhearted smile in the pictures. And put the wrong color of purple bridesmaid dresses on your girls, and you'll have a hot mess for sure.

Purple, like any other color, has certain shades which look great on certain skin tones and colorings. Conversely, there are shades which look terrible on certain skin tones and colorings. Put a lavender with gray overtones on a woman with dark hair and olive/white skin and they'll look like a carp in an evening gown. Choosing a purple bridesmaid dress is all about finding the right shade for the right gal.

It's difficult to adhere to all the rules of color. I mean you have to match the eyes with the skin tone and the hair, and you have to do it with all the bridesmaids. And the worst part is, if you've given them the job of picking their dress, they may not realize that the color might be unbecoming. My suggestion is pick the color before giving them the dress shopping. Once they have a general idea of what color to choose, they'll have a narrower field of dresses. To find the perfect purple dresses for all your bridesmaids, visit a fabric store and simply hold up fabric next to their face. You'll notice right away when a color looks terrible because your bridesmaid's face will look dull.

Next make sure that the dresses they pick will flatter each bridesmaid in style as well as color. Be considerate of girls who aren't comfortable with their legs, arms, chest or any other part. If the dress accentuates a negative, she's going to be uncomfortable, unhappy and generally have an unbearable time. Choose a dress that cover the problem areas and reveal the positive ones. If it's a little difficult to figure out what works, the best choices are a-line skirts and empire waist dresses. Sleeveless dresses can always be worn with a wrap, be sure that all your bridesmaids have one if any are uncomfortable with no sleeves.

One last thing about purple bridesmaid dresses, they look fabulous when different shades are mixed. My favorite compilation is 5 lavender bridesmaids and a royal purple maid of honor dress. Purple is just one of those colors that looks terrific when mixed within its own color spectrum.
